The One Habit Rule That Builds Real Estate Businesses (Not Just Dreams)
I don't start a new habit until I've earned the right to. Stacking 10 goals at once sounds productive—but without mastering the first one, it's just distraction dressed as ambition.
Why Most Agents Play Business Instead of Building It
New agents chase shiny objects: newsletters, drip campaigns, TikTok funnels, CRM setups. But if you're not prospecting consistently or following up leads, those tactics sit unused. I've seen agents spend weeks designing buyer funnels while their database gathers dust. Result? Zero closings, burned out, back to square one.
The fix: Earn your way up. Nail one core habit first.
The 3-Step Habit Ladder
1. Nail It
Pick one non-negotiable: 3x weekly prospecting calls, 10 daily lead follow-ups, or sphere touch-bases. Do it manually until it's automatic—30 days minimum. Track it daily. No skips.
2. Automate It
Once consistent, systemize: CRM reminders for follow-ups, dialer for calls, email templates. Now it runs without daily willpower.
3. Stack the Next One
Only then add the next layer—newsletter for top-of-mind, drip campaign for nurtured leads, video content for brand. Each builds on proven execution.
Coaching Real Results
Agents I coach follow this ruthlessly. No newsletters until prospecting hits 3x/week. No funnels until current leads get 3 touches. We review weekly: "Did you earn the right to layer more?"
This builds consistency that compounds. One habit becomes a machine. That machine funds the next. Suddenly you're not playing business—you're running one.
Stop stacking. Start sequencing.
