The 80/20 Rule for a Productive Week
Most people overload their calendars with tasks that don't matter. I take the opposite approach: I trim mine down to focus only on what truly drives results. By applying the 80/20 rule—where 80% of your outcomes come from 20% of your efforts—you can eliminate the noise and prioritize the actions that move the needle. Here's how I structure my week to maximize impact.
The Core of My Weekly Schedule
After ruthless prioritization, these are the activities that stay on my calendar every week:
3 Hours of Prospecting: This is about real, intentional outreach. I focus on voice notes, follow-ups, and direct messages (DMs). No fluff, no wasted effort—just high-impact communication that builds relationships and drives opportunities.
2 Hours of Content Creation: I create content that’s educational, local, and personal. This mix ensures it resonates with my audience, establishes authority, and feels authentic. Whether it’s a video, post, or article, these hours are dedicated to crafting something valuable.
2 Hours with My Team: This time is for aligning with my team on wins, addressing roadblocks, and building skills. It’s not just a meeting—it’s a focused session to celebrate progress, solve problems, and level up together.
Why It Works
The key to this approach is clarity. By identifying the 20% of actions that deliver the most value, I cut out the distractions and double down on what works. This isn’t about being busy—it’s about being effective. Try auditing your own calendar: what’s actually moving you forward? Keep that, and let go of the rest.
