Home Equity Wins in 2025
Fun fact: Homeowners who sold last quarter owned their homes an average of 8.18 years, which is the longest hold period in at least 25 years. (Source: ATTOM)
You wouldn’t know it from the gloom-and-doom headlines, but here’s a stat worth shouting: Those sellers still pocketed an impressive 50% profit on average.
Sure, that’s down slightly from the eye-popping 2021–2022 peak, but still miles ahead of pre-pandemic returns (around 30% was considered good back then).
The dip is just a market catching its breath after years of sprinting uphill.
And honestly, after nearly a decade in one home, walking away with a 50% gain is a victory lap.
If you’ve owned your home for more than a few years, you’re likely sitting on a nice chunk of equity. What are you going to do with it?
P.S. Haven’t checked your equity numbers in a while? Drop a comment or shoot me a DM and I’ll send you an updated report this week.
